Natural Stress Relief

Reiki

Our physical bodies are built on an energetic template called the Human Energy Field. Our hands and even our prayers and intentions can and do affect the Human Energy Field.

Reiki was discovered in the early 1900's, although it is based on an ancient belief in the ability to manipulate and heal the energy (Prana, Ki, Chi) that flows through each of us. Mrs. Hawayo Takata brought it to the US from Japan in the 1930's.

A skilled Reiki energy practitioner can lay their hands on a client and have an instant calming influence. Beyond relaxation, Reiki energy healing can support mental, emotional and physical healing either alone or in conjunction with regular medical treatment. Reiki is becoming popular in hospitals and hospice facilities in Connecticut.

Many people report these benefits of Reiki:

  • Decreased Pain
  • Reduced Nausea
  • Better Sleep
  • Deep Meditative State
According to the American Cancer Society, Reiki has seen a rise in application in relieving the anxiety and pain levels of cancer patients.  In some instances it is used to by patients with mesothelioma.  Learn more at their site.

A Reiki session with Cheryl typically begins by talking about what motivated the client to seek energy healing and what beliefs about life or themselves might be affecting their emotional or physical health. Insights gained during the talk are integrated into the mind/body and spirit with a hands on Reiki energy balancing. The client lies fully clothed on a massage table or sits in a chair and as Cheryl places her hands on various energy centers the client often enters a deep state of relaxation. The client may experience sensations such as warmth, tingling, seeing colors or feeling emotions arise.  Often the session ends with suggested affirmations to assist the client in shifting old beliefs.

Meditation

Close your eyes and count your next three breaths.  That simple exercise demonstrates the power of meditation as a way to relax.  To simply put your attention on your breath is the beginning of a meditation practice.  You always have your breath with you.  No matter where you are, if you can stop and breathe mindfully, you will notice an immediate lessening of your stress.
